2-day Workshop – Online or In-person

This workshop is of great importance to community workers and caregivers, who work with community members who have experienced a traumatic experience such as residential school and day school trauma. It will assist with victims of violence (physical, sexual abuse, domestic or lateral violence in the community or workplace, 60’s scoop survivors, poverty, floods, natural disasters, car, airplane or boat accident, fire, illness or other related traumas.

The impact of the residential school and Sixties Scoop are clearly visible in individuals, families and Indigenous, First Nations, Inuit and Metis communities, and urban centres. Inter-generational trauma and its effects (physical, sexual, spousal and verbal abuse, homicide, alcoholism, drug addiction, poverty, suicide attempts/completion, unemployment etc…) have had a ripple effect throughout generations.

If trauma is the underlying cause of many social issues, it is important to educate community workers who work with trauma survivors about trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, healing exercises and provide effective and supportive skills to support community members who have experienced trauma. Using everyday layman’s term language, this workshop will provide an understanding of trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in easy to understand language, with visual diagrams, healing exercises, atherapeutic model (Trauma Communication Model) and a Self Regulation-“Trauma Stress Release Exercise” to witness and guide a client if they become triggered or if they recently experienced a traumatic event. It will also assist the worker to manage stress/chronic stress/lateral violence in the workplace.

• Understanding how sensory imprints of the trauma are created in the brain structure, muscles and organs.
• Understanding how stress hormones flood the nervous system (muscles and organs) during a traumatic event.

• Understanding how the residential school has disrupted the role of positive parenting and has impacted the development of the brain and genetics. Understanding the Trauma Communication Model, a therapeutic model for community workers to use to witness and guide a client to release the traumatic stress in the body and to ground the client to feel safe within themselves until they can seek medical assistance or mental health support.
• Utilizing healing and self-care exercises to manage chronic stress/lateral violence in the workplace.

 

 

 

1 Day Trauma informed Care Training (Online Seminar only-4.5hrs)

This online training is for managers, supervisors, school staff, community workers and caregivers, to enhance your understanding of trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, western and traditional healing exercises and practices.
The seminar provides an understanding of how imprints of trauma are created in the mind and body, and strategies to share with your clients to manage and release the traumatic stress/emotion in a safe way.

Provide an understanding of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and symptoms. Awareness and strategies to manage chronic stress and lateral violence in the workplace and community. Provide a Self Regulation Exercise “Trauma Stress Release Exercise” to manage flashbacks by turning off the malfunctioning alarm system in the brain structure and release the trauma stress/emotion from the body (muscles and organs, to restore balance within the mind, body and spirit.

Understanding the impact of Adverse Child Experiences and Childhood neglect and abuse on children and youth, and also how it impacts the development of the brain structure. Learn various western and traditional healing exercises.

The Journey to Healing Trauma Workshop

This interactive workshop is open to public bookings. The workshop can be provided in-person or online.

The foundation to healing trauma is theoretical and practical. Understanding how trauma impacts the
mind (brain structure), body (muscles, organs, hormones), and spirit (inner child, wounded spirit). This seminar will provide practical healing exercises (western and/or traditional) to know how to release the traumatic stress/emotional residue from the muscles and organs, in a safe way.

Grief and Loss Workshop

This workshop can be online or onsite (1-to-2-day Workshop).

This important workshop will help participants gain a better understanding of grief and loss and how it
impacts the mind, body, spirit, behaviour and health.

The workshop will provide various practical exercises to assist in reducing stress and emotion. It utilizes the medicine wheel to identify areas impacted in the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of the human being.
